Bob Smart, from the Cheddar Caves, agreed to show Paul Stoneman and myself around the largest of the caves at Cheddar, Gough's Cave, so named after Richard Gough the original discoverer of this quarter of a mile of tunnels in the limestone walls of the Cheddar Gorge. Inside we find the only complete skeleton of the earliest man, aptly named Cheddar Man and an array of fascinating chambers and marvels as well.
